if you're gonna be sombody's heartbreak, be mine

Happy Halloween! I had a fun weekend dressing up (I was a flapper, cave girl and a rockstar), and I LOVED seeing all the other costumes. I saw quite few black swan costumes (which I obvi adored) and tons of duck-tape dresses (some of the ideas for those were adorable). It was such a busy weekend that I can barely believe it's already Monday! Last night my friend showed me my new favorite artist, Hunter Hayes. I'm just a little obsessed (aka I'm listening to his album on repeat). His songs have just the right amount of country twang mixed with the best lyrics ever. Let's just say I'm in love.

"If you're gonna be somebody's heartbreak, if you're gonna be somebody's mistake, if you're gonna be somebody's first time, somebody's last time, baby be mine. If you're looking to be somebody's 'just friends', a little laughin', little lovin', never calling again, that's just fine. If you're gonna be somebody's heartbreak, be mine"

i just want a small part in your passion play

Today it seemed like fall is in full swing. The air was crisp, and the leaves are bright. I wish fall would last forever, especially considering that when fall ends the dreaded cold and snow of winter come. Here are some of my current favorite things about fall:
A mini pumpkin that my roommate got us for a festive decoration
The changing leaves outside my window
My favorite chocolate colored Uggs that always keep my feet toasty
New mittens with pom-poms on them
My flapper feather that I will be wearing as a part of my costume tonight

forgive me

I've said before that I'm mildly obsessed with Le Love. I've been compiling some of my favorite images from the posts as I've seen them. Some of them make me happy, some of them make me sad, but they all fill my heart with some type of love. Here are some of my favorites:

do the monster mash

It's almost Halloween and I'm sooo excited to dress up for the weekend festivities! I love being able to dress up as someone completely out of my normal attire for the night. I haven't completely decided on my looks for the weekend, but here are some of my favorite ideas:

1. The black and white swans in tulle skirts and leotards with a friend, finished off with feather accessories! Look at this for inspiration
2. The Kardashian family with sleek hair, dark clothes, and over the top glasses. If you opt to be Kim, make sure you accentuate your behind, and if you are Kourt, don't forget Mason! The more the merrier for this one, try to look like this.
3. Lady Gaga will always be a crowd pleaser, but I don't think I'll go for the meat dress.
4. The classic 80's workout girl, with a cute crop top and spandex shorts.
5. A tribute to Amy Winehouse with a killer beehive, a white tank and tons of dark eyeliner, inspired by this.
6. "Earth, Wind and Fire" literally with two friends, and sing out their tunes all night.
7. Sue Sylvester from "Glee" in a striped track suit.
8. The ladies from "Sex & The City" with three friends. I would call being Carrie, obviously.
9. A shadow, dressed in all black, following someone around the party all night.

you remind me of home

I'm back home for the night, and obviously I'm loving being cuddled up in my bed on this cold and rainy night. My mom made one of my favorite dinners, and had cookies fresh out of the oven for my afternoon arrival. I've spent my night studying for the exam that I have tomorrow. I concocted a little "home" playlist, perfect for this cozy evening in my favorite place. Enjoy with a glass of hot cocoa as I definitely did!

i came to win, to survive, to prosper, to rise, to fly

One of my favorite blogs, the rockstar diaries, features a "happy list" of ten or so things that are currently making her happy. I love to read the ones that she posts, and usually her happy lists end up making me smile. It feels so nice to make my own list of what is currently making me happy in order to appreciate the little things in life. Here's my current fall happy list:

1. Crunching through the golden leaves on the sidewalks on my way to class.
2. Weeknights spent in watching movies with my roommate. Last night we watched "500 Days of Summer", one of my favorites
3. Sipping on warm caramel apple cider while studying at the library.
4. Halloween candy
5. The indian summer that was hitting the mitten over the last week. It was so nice to actually have warmth and sunshine.
6. Dreaming of baking fall inspired desserts, such as this. I definitely will be making that on my next weekend at home!
7. Deciding on my Halloween costumes... I'm still undecided
8. Christmas music in less than a month.
9. Cozy socks on chilly nights.
10. The University of Michigan v. Michigan State football game is here in East Lansing on Saturday. I have friends coming here for it and I'm so excited to see our victory over the wolverines! GO GREEN!

and the headlights on the highway couldn't help me understand

This post is the most overdue post in my history. I never meant to go this long without blogging, but one thing lead to another and all of a sudden it's October. My September was much too crazy and overwhelming for my own liking. I had all of the stress of moving in to school, and then my sister's wedding, and then sorority rush (I am a Delta Gamma and so happy with it!). When I finally thought I was getting my schedule on track, my world was turned completely upside-down with a family tragedy. And now, suddenly it's already almost a week into October, and I turn 19 tomorrow. I'd like to say I'm sorry for not blogging, but I feel like I needed this little break to really get adjusted and then readjusted to life. I hereby pledge that as a 19 year old I will be more dedicated to Lavender Delight, and I will keep my followers with tons of up to date reading material.
